‘THE NATURE OF HUMAN BEINGS AND THE QUESTION OF THEIR ULTIMATE ORIGIN’
About the Event

Sophia Europa (Theology Faculty) Oxford is a Forum of leading thinkers in Oxford, with expertise in their own specialist areas of study, who are interested in multi-disciplinary and critical exchange of the sciences, humanities and theology.

The core forum meets for valuable conferral twice a year. The main question of concern is “What is Life and its Possible Origins?”  (WILAIPO).  In all gatherings, open, two-way respectful exchange between the disciplines is sought, in an attempt to advance thought and learning.

The long-planned “Dialogue Event” in which the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, Professor Richard Dawkins and Sir Anthony Kenny participated on 23 February, 2012, in the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford University, presented a great opportunity for valuable, open discussion by three leading thinkers, with expertise in their respective areas of study. The topic of “The Nature of Human Beings and the Question of their Ultimate Origin” was discussed in what was widely said to be an invigorating and enlivening dialogue.
